Sarah Clark

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

I am a Registered General Nurse, Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) and non medical prescriber with over 23 years of nursing experience. The first 9 years of my career were in an Emergency Department (ED) where I progressed into a senior nurse role. I started my advanced practice training whilst in ED then in 2010, I decided to progress my career further and moved into primary care.

Over the last 13 years I have worked in autonomous senior roles and am able to assess, examine, investigate, diagnose, arrange referrals and discharge patients who present with a variety of complaints. I completed the non medical prescribing course in 2011 which has enabled me to provide holistic care to my patients. I finished my advancing practice Master’s degree in 2016.

I now have experience of working within a wide range of primary healthcare services including walk in centres, urgent care centres, out of hours, GP practices, telephone triage, remote consultations and home visits.

In 2017 I was appointed into the role of the clinical service manager for a large GP federation where I was responsible for 4 healthcare services which included an out of hours service, extended GP appointments, urgent care streaming and home visits. Whilst in post, I developed a robust clinical governance and clinical audit policy and implemented this which improved the overall standards of care whilst improving patient safety across the service. For these achievements I was awarded the NHS England ‘Innovation in Nursing’ award 2019.

I currently work as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner for various NHS primary care services and manage patients both remotely and face to face. I have an active role in the clinical audit and clinical governance team for a large out of hours service provider.

My clinical experience has enabled me to quickly assimilate myself with complex situations to determine an appropriate and considered course of action. I enjoy working with diverse teams where I can share my knowledge with others to ensure high standards of patient care are continuously met.

I am positive, self- motivated, organised and work well under pressure and have a proven track record for responding to challenges whilst working with energy and initiative.

I have recently completed the Bond Solon ‘Excellence in report writing and written evidence’ training.
