Monica Mendonca
Clinical Nurse Specialist
I have over ten years of diverse nursing experience, and I bring a wealth of expertise in the surgical field, specialising in Orthopedics, Recovery, and Pain Management. My career has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of patient care's clinical, procedural, and post-surgical elements, which I now apply to my role as a medico-legal expert nurse.
I currently work as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pain Management, developing and implementing comprehensive pain management strategies for surgical patients to optimise recovery and enhance long-term outcomes, while also managing chronic pain cases.
I continue to work bank shifts in the Recovery Unit alongside my primary role, allowing me to stay up to date with surgical cases. Over the years, I have developed expertise in immediate post-surgical care, particularly in managing complications and ensuring safe recovery. This hands-on experience enhances my ability to provide informed and accurate assessments in medico-legal cases.
I am fluent in Portuguese, and I often support Portuguese-speaking patients and families, ensuring clear communication during critical and complex situations. Known for my thorough, compassionate approach and strong attention to detail, I am dedicated to providing professional and impartial opinions where needed. I am committed to ongoing professional development and thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environments.
