Filipe Carvalho

General Nursing

With 15+ years of progressive nursing experience, I have proven track record of maintaining exceptional standards of care whilst working under pressure in busy and challenging settings. Currently working as a Nurse Consultant in Colorectal Disease, I work in one of the highest volume services for colorectal cancer, and provide senior professional and clinical leadership, to the Colorectal Department, Faster Diagnosis Service, Pelvic Floor Service and Endoscopy Department.

As a Nurse Consultant my role involves deliver the Trust’s ambitious cancer workforce strategy, and ensure patients referred with suspected Upper and/or Lower GI cancer, and those with a confirmed colorectal cancer diagnosis, receive expert care and management appropriate to their needs, so that they live their life as fully as they can. I support compliance against the 2WW, 28d and 62d cancer waiting times guidance and act as a role model and expert resource to the multi-professional team, supporting further education and training of the MDT. In addition, I play a key role in the implementation and sustainability of personalised cancer care for patients, leading on the development of robust and sustainable services and embedding this in practice and service delivery. I am a firm supporter of patient centred care and that a strong connection between the patient, the patient’s family and their entire treating team is vital in obtaining the best outcomes for patients with cancer – something I live and breathe every day.

I am an experienced Expert Witness and continue to be up to date with all relevant guidelines and procedures.
