Edwin Chamanga

I am an experienced Executive level senior nurse with skills and experience in community and acute nursing care. I have worked in various roles (community staff nurse, district nurse, tissue viability nurse, physical health nurse, senior lecturer) and various settings across the NHS and academia for 18 years, with a passion for tissue viability nursing which is supported by my 13 years of experience in practice and lecturing. As a lead tissue viability nurse, I have set up a lymphoedema service, redesigned leg ulcer services and tissue viability service provisions for various CCGs and acute Trusts. Close to the patient, I have designed locally informed patient pathways and treatment options and have used patient reported outcome measures and patient experience measures to improve practice and service practice. I have attended pressure ulcer case conferences and strategy meetings with CCGs and local councils.

To the broader tissue viability community, I have published more than a dozen peer reviewed publications since 2010, with both primary and secondary research still being cited to date. In 2021 I had a book chapter on Managing Wounds in Primary Care published in Practical General Practice Nursing.

I have been practising as an Expert Witness on nursing and tissue viability cases since 2018; I have worked on approximately 30/70% defendant/claimant instructions”.
